Achilles tendon pain can be caused by several issues, including overuse, tight calf muscles, improper footwear, or conditions like Achilles tendinitis or tendinosis. It often starts as stiffness or soreness in the back of the heel or lower calf, especially after physical activity.
Rest & Activity Modification – Avoid activities that worsen the pain, like running or jumping.
Ice Therapy – Apply ice for 15–20 minutes several times a day to reduce swelling.
Stretching & Strengthening – Gentle calf stretches and calf raises can help.
Proper Footwear – Supportive shoes with proper cushioning and heel lifts can reduce strain.
Physical Therapy – A Podiatrist can guide you through exercises to strengthen the tendon, orthotic therapy or Shock Wave Therapy to manage your pain and symptoms.
Severe pain or swelling that doesn’t improve
Difficulty walking or a noticeable lump in the tendon
A sudden "pop" followed by severe pain (possible rupture)
